Sacramental Preparation Baptism There is a preparation program for parents and sponsors prior to the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. Please call Fr. Irwin, 661-3908 to set up a meeting. It is a good idea to schedule the preparation program prior to the baby's birth.
Marriage Register as soon as possible. Please contact the priest at least six(6) months prior to the wedding. The date is tentative until the preparation program is complete. Advent & Lent are Penitential Seasons; couples are encouraged to plan their wedding outside these seasons.
Care of the sick and those confined to their Homes Please call the Parish Office for a Priest as soon as you or someone in your family is hospitalized or suffers a serious illness or injury. Regular visits are made to the hospitals and the priest visits those confined to home every First Friday

Congratulations to our young people who received the Holy Eucharist for the first time today. May they remain always as close to Our Savior as they are on this very Special Day. KOC 7270 Support the Knights and give "Mom" a break from cooking on Mother's Day. The Knights are pre-selling tickets for 8-10 lb. bone-in Boston Butts on May 8th. Catholic Adult Study Group You are invited to attend our formation meeting for a new Catholic Adult Study Group on, Wednesday May 12, 7 pm at the de Paul Center. At this meeting you will have a voice in determining how this new Wednesday evening group will explore our Catholic faith. Suggested topics for study and discussion include; Catholic Apologetics, Church History, Scripture Study, and discussion of current events. Each evening will be presented by SVDP parishioners or a guest speaker and will make use of the extensive recourses of our Archdiocesan library. Please make plans to attend. For information call Debbie Stapleton, 653-0562 Refurbishment of Pews we now have received donations of $914 towards refurbi shment of kneelers and adding of seat cushions .Any donation to this project, may be placed in an envelope marked "Pew Refurbishment" and dropped in the collection basket, mailed to the Rectory office or give to Fr. Irwin.

Ladies Altar Society Yard Sale The Ladies Altar Society is planning a Yard Sale to be held sometime in the very NEAR future, and they need your help to acquire items to sell. If you have household furniture/furnishings, toys, books, clothing, in GOOD condition and CLEANED, etc., please call Pat Cannon, 660-8856 to arrange a time convenient for pick-up or delivery.
Permanent Diaconate As many of you already know, fellow parishioner Steve Weatherford has completed the first year of formation for the Permanent Diaconate. We have now received a letter from Deacon Stephen R. Seymour, Director of Formation for the Archdiocese, requesting that you, St. Vincent's parishioners, be offered "the opportunity to express themselves to me, in writing, why the aspirant (Steve Weatherford) should/should not be recommended for candidacy. All correspondence will be held in strict confidentiality." You may direct your correspondence to Deacon Seymour at 1801 S. Cody Rd. Mobile, AL. 36695. He must receive same by May 8th.
St. Vincent de Paul Society - Food Pantry Wish List Can you help us with fresh fruits and vegetables? If you have a home garden and/or fruit trees, could you share your excess with us? We then would provide the fresh fruits and vegetables to those who cannot afford to purchase them. Thank you for all that you do!
School Congratulations to 4th grader Victoria Fletcher who won 1st place in the 2009 Veterans' Day Essay Contest. Victoria won a $200 savings bond and her class won $150. Cinco DeMayo Karaoke Night The SVS PTO is sponsoring a Cinco DeMayo Karaoke Night on Friday, May 7th, 6:30 p.m. - Midnight in the Parish Hall. Food & Live entertainment. MUST BE 21! Training Sessions for Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist A Training session will be held for all Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (except those who minister to the Homebound as they will be attend a separate session) Thursday, May 6th at 6:30 p.m. in the Church. The Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist to the Homebound will have their Training Session on Wednesday, May 12th at 6:30 p.m. in Church.
Around the Archdiocese Help for Couples experiencing Infertility. Please see the info near the doors on the Creighton Model Fertility Care System. It has helped lots and lots of couples achieve pregnancy. This same info will also aid couples who want to practice Natural Family Planning, the safe, moral, and totally natural way to engage in family planning. "McGill-Toolen Catholic High School will host Dr. Sharon Davies, author of Rising Road, A True Tale of Love, Race and Religion in America, on Monday, May 3, at 7 pm in the Portier Center. She will be speaking about her book, which is a superbly documented and compelling work about the 1921 murder of Father James Coyle, a priest of the Diocese of Mobile, and the first Rector of McGill Institute. The book has received high praise from nationally known authors, including Kevin Boyle, author of the National Book Award-winning Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights, and Murder in the Jazz Age. The public is cordially invited to hear Dr. Davies on May 3, and to meet her after the talk when she will be available for a book signing.
