Sacramental Preparation
Baptism There is a preparation program for parents and sponsors prior to the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism.  Please call Fr. Irwin, 661-3908 to set up a meeting.  It is a good idea to schedule the preparation program prior to the
baby's birth.

Marriage Register as soon as possible.  Please contact the priest at least six(6) months prior to the wedding.  The date is tentative until the preparation program is complete.  Advent & Lent are Penitential Seasons; couples are encouraged to plan their wedding outside these seasons.

Care of the sick and those confined to their Homes Please call the Parish Office for a Priest as soon as you or someone in your family is hospitalized or suffers a serious illness or injury. Regular visits are made to the hospitals and the priest visits those confined to home every First  Friday

Tithe Report
158 Parish Families, through November 1st, have pledged $168,588.00.  We thank each of you for your commitment to our
Parish!

Tithe Cards Completion and return of  the tithe card is another way to update your address & phone number for our mailing list.  Even if you are unable to commit to a tithe at this time, please return the card by way of  the collection basket. Stewardship of Treasure  Please take this opportunity to renew (or make) a financial commitment to the parish.  God has blessed many of us with jobs and resources..  These all belong to God before they belong to any one of us.  Stewardship of Treasure or tithing is a way of giving back to God a portion of what He has so generously given to us.  Your  regular contributions to the parish help pay the bills and support all the activities we have at St. Vincent's.  Please pray and think about how you might support your church financially as we continue to do God's work on this earth.

November, the Month of the Holy Souls We take the month of November to pray for the souls of the faithful departed each year.  We have placed the books of the deceased near the baptismal pool  Please remember that the book has the names of all of the deceased from previous years already in it, and so, there is no need to rewrite the names of deceased loved ones.  Please call Sandra(Rectory office) if you would like to have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered for a deceased loved one.

Spring Festival Planning Meeting Please mark your calendars for a Spring Festival Planning meeting on Monday, Nov. 9th, 6:00 p.m.  Bring your thoughts and ideas on how to make our Festival bigger and better!!

Readers Training
There will be a training session for all readers, current and new, Tuesday, Nov. 17th  at 7pm.  All reads are asked to attend!

Congratulations to Ginny Wilkins:  Ginny is the first recipient of the newly established Christ the King Award.  Archbishop Rodi asked that each pastor choose a parishioner who exemplified outstanding service to the community to be given this award on the feast of Christ the King.  This being my first year, I asked for recommendations from the pastoral council, parishioners, and I interviewed four previous pastors.  All four pastors agreed that it would be very difficult to choose only one parishioner from St. Vincent.  Fortunately, there will be many more years for people to be able to receive it.  Ginny is a founding member of our parish, and one who has been involved from the very beginning doing everything from cleaning the church to serving on the pastoral council. - Fr. Irwin

School  Congratulations to our Robotics Team that won 1st place in Spirit and Sportsmanship; 1st place in T-shirt Design and 3rd place in the BEST Award at the BEST Robotics Competition last weekend.  This  placement qualifies them  for the regional competition in Auburn, AL.   We are also very proud of our principal Mary McLendon, the team's moderator, who won the Forum's BEST Teacher of the Year!

Holy Days of Obligation
:  All Saints Day, Nov 1st, kicks off a run of 4 of the 5 holy days of obligation each year.  Besides keeping holy the Sabbath Day each Sunday by going to Mass, the Church also asks us (obliges us) to celebrate 5 special feast days during the year: Jan. 1, the Feast of Mary, the Mother of God; Aug. 15, the Assumption of Mary into Heaven; Nov. 1st, All Saints Day; Dec. 8th the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary; and Dec. 25th, Christmas.  These are holy days of obligation because they are such important feast days.  Giving roughly 57 hours of the year to the Lord of the whole universe is not too much to ask.  If one misses Sunday Mass or a Holy Day without a sufficiently grave reason, the Sacrament of Reconciliation should be received before receiving Holy Communion.

Short-Term Teachers Needed:  We have a few students who would like to be baptized and receive their First Holy Communion and who are in need of some instruction.  If you would like to instruct one of these children for several weeks in preparation for these sacraments, please call Debbie Stapleton.  We could really use you.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is described in  The Catechism of the Catholic Church para. Numbers 1285-1321.  There it states that Jesus promised his followers an outpouring of the  Holy Spirit.  He fulfilled this promise on Easter Sunday (JN20:22) and then more strikingly at Pentecost.  From Pentecost on, in fulfillment of Christ's will, the apostles "imparted to the newly baptized by the laying on of hands the gift of the Spirit that completes the grace of Baptism." This sacrament, "in a certain way, perpetuates the grace of Pentecost in the Church" (Catechism of the Catholic Church para. Numbers 1287-1288). For those who have not been Confirmed Please contact the church office if you have not received the sacrament of Confirmation and would like to do so. Confirmation is the completion of Christian initiation assuring a person that he has all the gifts of the Holy Spirit to live a full Christian life.  You should also know that one must be confirmed in order to be a godparent in Baptism or a sponsor for someone being confirmed.

21 Babies were Saved during 40 Days for Life:
A big thank you to everyone who prayed for the protection of the pre-born during this past 40 days for life.  21 babies were saved from abortion - as well as 21 mothers and fathers were spared deep regret.  Thank God for your prayers and for those who courageously stood outside of Planned Parenthood witnessing for life.
