Sacramental Preparation Baptism There is a preparation program for parents and sponsors prior to the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism.  Please call Fr. Irwin, 661-3908 to set up a meeting.  It is a good idea to schedule the preparation program prior to the baby's birth.

Marriage Register as soon as possible.
Please contact the priest at least six(6) months prior to the wedding.  The date is tentative until the preparation program is complete.  Advent & Lent are Penitential Seasons; couples are encouraged to plan their wedding outside these seasons.

Care of the sick and those confined to their Homes Please call the Parish Office for a Priest as soon as you or someone in your family is hospitalized or suffers a serious illness or injury. Regular visits are made to the hospitals and the priest visits those confined to home every First  Friday

Tithe Cards Completion and return of  the tithe card is another way to update your address & phone number for our mailing list.  Even if you are unable to commit to a tithe at this time, please return the card by way of  the collection basket.

Stewardship of Treasure Please take this opportunity to renew (or make) a financial commitment to the parish.  God has blessed many of us with jobs and resources..  These all belong to God before they belong to any one of us.  Stewardship of Treasure or tithing is a way of giving back to God a portion of what He has so generously given to us.  Your  regular contributions to the parish help pay the bills and support all the activities we have at St. Vincent's.  Please pray and think about how you might support your church financially as we continue to do God's work on this earth.

We're Paying Off Our Debt The Finance Council has decided that , with the rise in interest rates, we should pay the bank debt owed on the new school building.  We will soon begin repaying to ourselves those parish funds which were borrowed during construction of the building.

Special All Souls Day Mass Monday, Nov. 2nd at 7:00 p.m.  This All Souls Day, the day we set aside to pray for all the faithful departed, we will be making a special remembrance of loved ones who have died.  Please email  or call the office and let Sandra them know the names of relatives in your immediate family only (grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, or children) who have died during this past year (Nov. 2, 2008 - Nov. 1, 2009) We will read their names during the intercessions and light a candle for them.  Please make sure that you include your name and the person's relation to you.  We will, of course, be praying for the repose of the souls of all the deceased as well.

November, the Month of the Holy Souls We take the month of November to pray for the souls of the faithful departed each year.  We have placed the books of the deceased near the baptismal pool  Please remember that the book has the names of all of the deceased from previous years already in it, and so, there is no need to rewrite the names of deceased loved ones.  Please call Sandra(Rectory office) if you would like to have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered for a deceased loved one.

The Sacrament of Confirmation
is described in  The Catechism of the Catholic Church para. Numbers 1285-1321.  There it states that Jesus promised his followers an outpouring of the  Holy Spirit.  He fulfilled this promise on Easter Sunday (JN20:22) and then more strikingly at Pentecost.  From Pentecost on, in fulfillment of Christ's will, the apostles "imparted to the newly baptized by the laying on of hands the gift of the Spirit that completes the grace of Baptism." This sacrament, "in a certain way, perpetuates the grace of Pentecost in the Church" (Catechism of the Catholic Church para. Numbers 1287-1288). For those who have not been Confirmed Please contact the church office if you have not received the sacrament of Confirmation and would like to do so. Confirmation is the completion of Christian initiation assuring a person that he has all the gifts of the Holy Spirit to live a full Christian life.  You should also know that one must be confirmed in order to be a godparent in Baptism or a sponsor for someone being confirmed.

Parishioners are Welcome at RCIA Classes
, Nov 3 The Office and Ministry of Peter, by Pat Pose; Nov 10 The Liturgical and Sacramental Life, by Steve Weatherford, Nov 17 Baptism & Confirmation, by Paula Weatherford.   Classes meet in the De Paul Center at 7 pm.

Special Thanks to Charmaine Helton for scheduling our altar servers for 10 years!  Charmaine has served the church through four different priests taking great care to make sure servers knew when it was their turn to serve as  well as how to do it well.  We thank her for her service to the church. Special Thanks to Andrew Conner & our Building Crew   Andrew put a lot of TLC in his brick work for the Marian grotto; he did a fabulous job.  For his efforts, the Pastoral Council has awarded him the St. Vincent de Paul Spirit Award.  We also very much appreciate the men who poured the slab on which the grotto is resting, and those who moved the statue into place.   We will have a dedication ceremony for the grotto in the near future.
