Sacramental Preparation Baptism There is a preparation program for parents and sponsors prior to the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. Please call Fr. Irwin, 661-3908 to set up a meeting. It is a good idea to schedule the preparation program prior to the baby's birth. Marriage Register as soon as possible. Please contact the priest at least six(6) months prior to the wedding. The date is tentative until the preparation program is complete. Advent & Lent are Penitential Seasons; couples are encouraged to plan their wedding outside these seasons.
Care of the sick and those confined to their Homes Please call the Parish Office for a Priest as soon as you or someone in your family is hospitalized or suffers a serious illness or injury. Regular visits are made to the hospitals and the priest visits those confined to home every First Friday Pro-Life Holy Hour 7 - 8 p.m. Thur. Oct. 29th in the Church.
Please note In an effort to curtail expenses, telephone service to the DePaul Center has been disconnected.
Stewardship of Treasure Oct. 24th: and for a few weeks afterward you will have an opportunity to renew (or make) a financial commitment to the parish. God has blessed many of us with jobs and resources. These all belong to God before they belong to any one of us. Stewardship of Treasure or tithing is a way of giving back to God a portion of what he has so generously given to us. Your regular contributions to the parish help pay bills and support all the activities we have at St. Vincent. Please pray and think about how you might support your church financially as we continue to do God's work on this earth.

We can be proud of our School The Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Mobile just went through a District Quality Review process for SACS Accreditation. Eight schools were chosen for a SACS visit, St. Vincent being one of them. The visiting team came to school on Tuesday, Oct. 13. They were very impressed with our school. They felt the spirit, the pride and the sense of ownership of our students, teachers and parents. We have those things that money cannot buy. They said to continue what we are doing, noting that we have a "gem". We should all be very proud of our school

Annulments: An annulment is a declaration by the Church that for some very serious reason, one or both partners did not commit themselves to marriage as the Church understands it. There may have been real love between the spouses and even children who were born in that union, yet, the couple never contracted a true marriage on their wedding day. For instance, sometimes people marry before they are psychologically mature enough to do so; there was a commitment to one another but not a "death do us part" commitment. Therefore, they could have their marriage annulled. There are lots of myths about annulments such as: children become illegitimate, annulments are very expensive, the ex-spouse must cooperate. None of these is true.
Marriage Matters: I would like to help any of you who need to regularize your marriage and have it blessed in the Church. I know that this is not an easy subject, but I would encourage you to come and talk to me about it (or find a priest or deacon whom you trust). There are lots of misunderstandings in regard to annulments, etc. that I would love to try and clear up if I can. Please give me a call. - Fr. Irwin
